Medical Office Assistant Program

If you’re looking for a healthcare career but would prefer not to deal with drawing blood and giving injections, a career as a Medical Office Assistant could be just the thing. At PCI, you can learn the skills you need to perform an essential front office and administrative role in any medical office. This program will prepare you for a variety of front office roles, including:

Our Curriculum

This program combines lectures with practical medical and computer lab exercises.

Classroom Training

You’ll study in a simulated medical office environment as you learn Electronic Health Records procedures, medical records management, billing procedural codes, basic medical terminology, and first aid and CPR. This section lasts four months, with 400 hours of classroom training.

Externship

After completing the classroom portion, you’ll receive an additional 200 hours of lab instruction, gaining real-world experience in a medical office, clinic, lab or hospital setting, applying your new skills under the supervision of qualified personnel.

Career Outlook

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Medical Office jobs are expected to grow at 9% from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. This is due to an aging population that will require more medical services as they become eligible for Social Security and Medicare.

"PCI has helped me expand my knowledge and get a better understanding of what it is I want. I have had hands-on experience that I wouldn’t have gotten in another school. Thanks to one of my admissions counselors, I have met a lot of great people inside the school. [They] helped me understand how this would benefit me in my future."
